We begin the weekend with the Moon transiting friendly and sociable Gemini. Conversations are lively with the Moon sextile to Uranus Friday evening. The Moon moves into family-oriented and emotional Cancer late on Saturday afternoon. Mercury continues its retrograde motion, so communications snafus continue.

Aries – Speak your mind on Friday and Saturday this weekend. You might also have an issue with a neighbor or sibling. Let others challenge your ideas as this may broaden your thinking. Don’t argue with an older woman or family member.  Head on home Saturday night. Home and family are important then. You feel contented and benevolent. You’re experiencing life with greater emotional intensity. Nevertheless, your libido level is set on high this weekend. If your partner is in the mood, s/he will be quite fortunate. Eclipses

Eclipses are very important astrological (as well as astronomical) events. We usually experience four or five eclipses per year. Lunar eclipses occur at the time of a full Moon. And, solar eclipses occur at the time of the new Moon. Some astrologers believe that the effects and influence of an eclipse only lasts a few weeks (at the most). Others believe that the effects can last and influence what might happen for up to two or three years (or even more). The eclipse point is activated a few days before the eclipse, and as other planets pass over the eclipse point in the future, the energy of the eclipse is again activated. Eclipses operate a bit differently for individuals versus the collective. I’ll give you a couple of quotes from different prominent astrologers to give you an idea of what I mean.

Don’t mess with eclipses.

Those old eclipses will stir you up all right. All sorts of feelings leap out of you. And if you regard an eclipse as a period of instability where new attitudes come up into view, you’ll find they’re wonderful for getting rid of old muck inside of you.

The trick is not to act more than necessary when an eclipse is operating. It may be necessary to act more than you would during normal times because of outside changes, but do not do more than you must. People are stirred up now.

Ten days before and three days after the eclipse is the unstable period. We call it the shadow of the eclipse. Big business deals and big love deals swirl around in the ethers; don’t initiate action or decide issues until you count one, two, three days after the eclipse.

Do you want that new job badly? Wait. You’ve fallen madly in love? Fine. That’s what eclipses are for, to stir you up. But keep your cotton pickin’ hands to yourself until you count one, two, three days after the eclipse if you want the romance to last. Well, you can neck a little bit.

Several formulas exist for determining the life span of an eclipse, with conflicting formulas purportedly coming from the same highly reputable source, none other than Ptolemy, so this has been a somewhat murky area. As already mentioned in the introduction, the most often heard rule is that a Solar eclipse has an effect that lasts as long in years as the eclipse lasts in hours, which gives the average Solar eclipse a life span of about three and a half years. This means that at certain times within that period, events signified in the eclipse chart will occur and that conditions symbolized by the eclipse will continue.

The most often heard rule applied to a lunar eclipse is that it has an effect duration, or life span, of one month for every hour of the eclipse shadow, equaling up to about six months at most.

However, in many years of research, I was never able to get the Lunar eclipse to fit this formula. Lunar eclipses and their effects consistently gave results indicating that they were sensitive much longer than a few months.

By now, I am convinced … that the Lunar eclipse, like the Solar eclipse, [should] be given a life span of one year for every hour of the eclipse shadow.

This means that the average eclipse life span is 3.5 years during which the degree of the zodiac where the eclipse formed remains sensitive. It is sometimes longer or shorter than that.

Eclipse Frenzy: Where Is The Popcorn Remember the movie or movies when an eclipse occurs and the primitive people of that film script think the world is ending? Sometimes when I see people upset with the knowledge but not the understanding of an eclipse, I am reminded of those scenes. The sky darkens, the winds etc.. Yes, the world is ending.  

Eclipses really are no big deal unless one of your planets is hit by them and within 2 degrees. That is where it ends and begins. So pull back if you are nervous about the eclipse.

Translation: this is a Full Moon eclipse, so Full Moon energy will add to the impact of the eclipse that day, or days around it.  

Eclipses tend to drain energy from people the day before and the day. Lunar eclipses, I have been told will impact you physically less if you eat food grown in the earth on the days around the eclipse. Bring on the potatoes...  

Eclipses are about conjunctions and oppositions. Those planets hit in conjunction and opposition are most likely to be hit with the 2 degree range and this is a large orb. Trust me, as one who has worked with eclipses on people's chart a lot. 

The timing is such (for a lunar eclipse): within seven days you will have a clue as to what it means. 1 month more. 6 months you are sure of the issue and the implications. 12 months are a marker but completion takes 18 months.  

For a solar eclipse: One week, three months, six months and finally a year, at which point you can see the total picture. One can rarely imagine the outcome at the beginning because of the Uranian activity and the individualization of each chart, even those with near identical charts.

I am not among those who believe that an eclipse may have a great effect years later, unless it is reinforced by more recent transiting events, which in my experience are usually sufficient to explain the event. But, oddly enough, the triggering transit sometimes precedes the eclipse by a couple of months.

The weekend begins with the Moon transiting the sign of Aquarius. It changes signs and enters Pisces just after noon on Friday. Mars squares Saturn (in Sagittarius now) early in the evening. Saturn wants us to focus on something (perhaps political or philosophical), but that could cause irritation and even anger. The Moon moves into Aries just after noon on Sunday. The total lunar eclipse occurs that evening in the same sign. Is your individuality more important, or is it more important to get along with others. It’s an interesting dilemma.

Aries – You might be slow to get started this weekend. Don’t challenge a boss or other authority figure on Friday. Be careful if traveling. Creative ideas keep popping up. Others wonder where you are until you show up on the scene on Sunday afternoon wearing an impressive and big smile (and, perhaps not much else). That along with the bounce in your step is sure to arouse the curiosity of others. Do you really want to spill the beans, though? We begin the weekend with the Moon transiting Scorpio. The Moon changes signs Friday night and moves into Sagittarius. The Moon squares Neptune and Jupiter late Saturday morning. Jupiter (in Virgo) and Neptune (in Pisces) are in opposition. Wild speculation can lead to losses. Gamblers beware. The Moon trines Uranus in the morning on the west coast on Sunday. Look for a cool and pleasant change. Mercury is in retrograde motion in Libra. Look for communications problems and snafus, and don't make any important decisions for three weeks unless you have to. 


Aries – You are doing some things lately that you (and others) believed that you would never do. On the other hand, your sign has never been very hesitant to try something new. Spending time with your sweetie is what you want to do on Friday. The intensity and eroticism turn you on. On Saturday, look for something or someone a bit different. A short trip might do the trick. Your energy and enthusiasm are impressive this weekend. Look for common ground with someone who thinks differently than the way you think. It’s doable. Marriage Equality: Astrological Analysis Of Obergefell v Hodges Ruling

The US Supreme Court made a landmark ruling on marriage equality on June 26, 2015 in the case of Obergefell v Hodges. It was a five to four decision in favor of marriage equality with Justice Anthony Kennedy writing the opinion for the majority.

At the time of the Obergefell ruling, there were some very favorable mundane planetary aspects as well as some favorable planetary aspects to the USA's natal and progressed charts. I will discuss some of the major ones in this post. I have drawn the horoscope/chart for the time of the Obergefell decision at 10:00 AM in Washington DC on June 26, 2015.

The case originated in Ohio in 2013. A federal judge from the Southern District of Ohio, Judge Timothy S. Black, ruled in favor of marriage equality (and, Mr. Obergefell), and then the US Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit reversed that decision. It was then appealed to the US Supreme Court, and certiorari was granted.

The sign of Leo was rising in Washington DC at the time, and the civil marriage asteroid, Juno, was very close to the Ascendant drawn for this chart. Juno was also widely conjunct transiting Jupiter and Venus (all in Leo). Those planets along with the Leo Ascendant were in a trine aspect to transiting Uranus in Aries … a very easy and favorable aspect for such an occasion. The air was filled with electricity and anticipation for the ruling which Justice Kennedy (also a Leo, by the way) read aloud. It seemed as if a marriage revolution was about to take place.

In the United States natal chart, Juno can be found in Libra. Transiting Jupiter/Venus/Juno are in sextile aspect to that point from Leo, and transiting Uranus is in an opposition to that point. Transiting Mercury was in Gemini at the time, and close to the USA’s natal Uranus, signaling an important announcement to be made. The Sun and Mars were transiting early Cancer and in conjunction to the USA’s natal Jupiter, ruler of the judiciary and the law.

In the Unites States progressed chart, Juno is in late Sagittarius (about 29 degrees and 20 minutes). It sets up a beautiful grand trine in fire signs with transiting Uranus in Aries and transiting Jupiter/Venus/Juno in Leo. That’s a very positive configuration for a favorable marriage equality decision. In addition, the Moon was transiting partnership-minded Libra at about twenty-eight degrees in a favorable sextile aspect to the USA’s progressed Juno and a sextile aspect to transiting Juno as well.

While gays and lesbians can now marry in all fifty states, license to discriminate bills have been popping up in numerous states throughout the country. It's interesting (and sad) that we can marry on one day in the USA and then be fired for being gay the next day in many states. So, we still have a ways to go to achieve full equality. Saturn's transit in Sagittarius this year opposes Uranus in the USA's natal chart. It seems as if our march toward equality has been halted or been stalled. Transiting Neptune (in Pisces) has been in a square aspect to the USA's natal Uranus. Neptune rules unwritten laws. Many of these license to discriminate laws have been written in vague and dubious language in an effort to disguise their true meaning and intent. Jupiter's transit through Virgo has been in a square aspect to the USA's natal Uranus. The stated intent of these laws (in most cases) is to protect organized and fundamentalists religions and far right religious and political organizations.

5R’s – Incredible   to 1R – Awful

Aries – The Moon transits your sixth house of health and work. It’s likely that you have your share of work to do this weekend. Fortunately, you are self-confident and energetic. At the same time, you might wonder if you are doing the right thing with your life. Make decisions based on your own views and what you know as opposed to listening to negativity from others. Others seek you out on Sunday night as your popularity is on the rise. Your peoples skills are good then. This Saturday’s solar eclipse also occurs in your health and work sector. Handle any health issues that might arise.    RRR

Taurus – You could be quite world-weary right now, but your playful and creative side emerges this weekend, nevertheless. By all means, do have fun but don’t overdo it. Make it an early night on Sunday in terms of entertainment as the Moon transits your work sector. You have quite a bit of energy, so you might even want to get a head start on Monday. The solar eclipse hits a very sensitive point in your chart on Saturday. You may think that the world is a cruel place, and it can be. It’s okay to escape for a while, but you cannot escape indefinitely. Accept the world as it is, and work to make it better.  RRRR

Gemini – You don’t usually want to stay at home on a summer weekend, but this weekend might be the exception as the Moon transits your home and family sector. And, you might also want to spend time with someone you care for deeply, and discuss the good old days. Take the time to appreciate how much love you give to and receive from others. At work, your ethical standards are quite high, and you have the energy to get the job done. The eclipse occurs in your house of home and foundational concerns. No, you cannot escape the basics, especially during the next few months. But, you will be building a foundation for your future, You’ll need it, as we all do. Jupiter’s transit will make it a bit easier, and perhaps even fun. You could be tempted to get angry about something at home on Sunday. Don’t.  RRRR
